What Age Can My Child Start Dance?
At Fresh Coast Dance, we begin classes for our youngest dancers who are at least 2 years of age, able to stay in class independently, and fully potty trained.
Dance is a structured, fun activity anyone can start young and continue building skill throughout life. Just as importantly, young dancers have a lot of fun in a social environment with peers and caring teachers.
If you've ever watched a recital, it's amazing to see the progression from wide-eyed three-year-olds all the way to teens wowing the crowd with leaps and turns. Every one of those older dancers started exactly where your little one is now.
What the Youngest Classes Focus On
It starts with learning how to learn — following directions and moving with peers. Coordination, balance, listening and rhythm are introduced through creative exploration and age-appropriate music. The goal isn't perfection; it's sparking a love of movement that can grow for a lifetime.
